My Talk at the Authentic Lawyer Conference
I’ll be speaking at the Authentic Lawyer Conference. It’s a three day virtual conference, totally free. The talk is “Building in Public”, as part of the Setting Yourself Apart with Business Development track of the conference.
I’ll be sharing what I’ve learned about building in public:
- why building in public helps you avoid the fate of being inauthentic
- how to build in public, and
- the outcomes you can expect.

Why are we here?
What’s interesting about getting a bunch of South Asian lawyers together anyways?
Take two identities (South Asian + lawyer), and you find a lot in common. We learn best from people that are like us: how often have you found some piece of advice, some technique, some tool from someone just enough like you.
So that means this community is uniquely poised to help its members learn. You can learn about professional development. That’s pretty interesting, learning from another commercial counsel hits differently when you have something in common with them.
But I think the really interesting stuff will happen when we can learn about all the other stuff in life from each other:
your workout regimen
your parenting system
your travel itineraries.
That’s the stuff you won’t find in a bar association. But you want to learn about what people similar to you are doing. That’s what’ll make this a real community.
The thing Pani Cooler isn’t a community. Not quite yet. It’s a newsletter centered around jobs. But Pani Cooler has gotten too big to stay a newsletter centered around jobs.
